One day Ananda, who had been thinking deeply about things for a while, turned to the Buddha and exclaimed:
”Lord, I’ve been thinking- spiritual friendship is at least half of the spiritual life!” The Buddha replied: “Say not so, Ananda, say not so. Spiritual friendship is the whole of the spiritual life!”
(Samyutta Nikaya, Verse 2)

“The sangha is primarily the community of those who, by virtue, of their immediate or remote approximation to Enlightenment, stand in spiritual relation to the Buddha and dwell spiritually in his presence. It is the community of those who, through their relationship with him, are also spiritually related to one another. The sangha is the Buddha’s spiritual family.” Sangharakshita. 🙏🏻
